Sculptures of Workers now available

Sculptures of Workers is the newest addition to the Grohmann Museum at Milwaukee School of Engineering. The recently published volume is filled with nearly 400 pages of full-color photography of sculptures found in the Man at Work art collection housed in the MSOE Grohmann Museum. Most date from the Golden Age of worker sculptures-the time around 1900. Enjoy captivating images of miners, steel workers, leather and textile workers and more from famous sculptors including Constantin Meunier, Frederic Remington and Max Kalish, among others.

German author and professor Dr. Klaus Türk produced Sculptures of Workers. The complete Man at Work art collection boasts more than 800 pieces, including more than 160 sculptures of workers. Türk presents the sculptures in this volume and provides readers with descriptions and interpretations along with a few additional sculptures from other collections.

Sculptures of Workers ($39.95) is available at the Grohmann Museum gift shop, online from the MSOE Bookstore or by calling (414) 277-2341.

The Grohmann Museum is home of the Man at Work collection, which comprises more than 800 paintings and sculptures dating from 1580 to the present. They reflect a variety of artistic styles and subjects that document the evolution of organized work: from farming and mining to trades such as glassblowing and seaweed gathering. The Grohmann Museum welcomes visitors to three floors of galleries where a core collection is displayed as well as special exhibitions. The museum also features a spectacular rooftop sculpture garden.
